Haydn Vernon Dackins (born July 10, 1912 – died August 2, 1943) was a talented Welsh footballer. He played as a forward, which means he was one of the main players who tried to score goals for his team. Haydn's life was sadly cut short when he was killed during World War II.

Playing Career Highlights
Haydn Dackins started his professional football journey playing for Swansea Town. He joined them for the 1934–35 season and played two games in the Second Division of the Football League.
Time at Port Vale
In July 1935, Haydn moved to Port Vale. During the 1935–36 season, he played nine games and scored one goal. His goal was a winning one, helping Port Vale beat Bradford Park Avenue 3–2 on November 2, 1935.
Later Clubs
After leaving Port Vale, Haydn played for Northwich Victoria. He then joined Macclesfield Town. He played many games for Macclesfield Town before moving to Hurst in November 1938. He left Macclesfield Town because of some rules issues.
Service in World War II
When World War II began, Haydn Dackins joined the army. He served bravely in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, a famous army regiment.
His Sacrifice
Haydn was killed in action on August 2, 1943. He was 31 years old. He died during the war, likely during the Allied invasion of Sicily. This was a very important military operation where Allied forces invaded the island of Sicily in Italy. Haydn is buried at the Catania War Cemetery in Catania, Sicily, a place that honors soldiers who died in the war.
