Hayuma Tanaka (田中 隼磨, Tanaka Hayuma, born 31 July 1982) is a Japanese football player. He plays as a defender for Matsumoto Yamaga FC. He also played for the Japan national team.

Hayuma Tanaka's Football Journey

Hayuma Tanaka was born in Matsumoto, Japan, on July 31, 1982. He started his football journey in the youth team of Yokohama Flügels. However, this club later joined with another team, Yokohama Marinos, and was closed down. Because of this, Hayuma moved to the youth team of Yokohama F. Marinos.

Playing for Yokohama F. Marinos

In 2000, Hayuma Tanaka joined the main team of Yokohama F. Marinos. He played his first professional game in the 2000 Emperor's Cup. In 2001, he played many games as a defensive midfielder, and his team, Marinos, won the 2001 J.League Cup. But in 2002, he didn't get to play much.

Time at Tokyo Verdy

In June 2002, Hayuma moved to Tokyo Verdy for a short time (on loan). There, he started playing as a right-back and became a regular player. However, in 2003, he played less because another player, Masayuki Yanagisawa, took his spot.

Return to Yokohama F. Marinos

Hayuma returned to Yokohama F. Marinos in 2004. He became a regular player as a right-side midfielder. That year, Marinos won the J1 League championship. From 2005 to 2008, he was a key player, playing over 30 games each season.

Moving to Nagoya Grampus

In 2009, Hayuma Tanaka joined Nagoya Grampus. He quickly became a regular right-back under the coach Dragan Stojković. In 2010, his team, Grampus, won the J1 League for the first time ever! In 2011, they also finished second in the J1 League.

Playing for His Hometown Club

In 2014, Hayuma moved to his local club, Matsumoto Yamaga FC, which was in the J2 League. He was given the number "3" jersey, which was worn by his former teammate, Naoki Matsuda, at Marinos. Hayuma played regularly and helped his team finish second in J2. This meant they moved up to J1, the top league, for the first time in the club's history.

In 2015, even though he played all 34 matches, the club finished near the bottom and moved back down to J2 after just one year. But in 2018, Matsumoto Yamaga FC won the J2 championship and was promoted to J1 again!

Playing for Japan

On August 9, 2006, Hayuma Tanaka played his first game for the Japan national team against Trinidad and Tobago.
