Hazen, Pennsylvania facts for kids
Hazen is a small, unincorporated community. It is located in Jefferson County, in the state of Pennsylvania. Being "unincorporated" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
Hazen's Early Days
Hazen wasn't always called Hazen! Its first name was Maysville. This name came from a local store owner named John Mayes.
The community's name changed to Hazen when a post office was opened there. The post office was very important for people to send mail. It started operating in Hazen in 1882. It served the community for many years before it closed down in 1982.
