Meet Alamelu Vairavan
Alamelu Vairavan grew up in a town called Kandanur in South India. This area is known for its special Chettinad style of cooking. When she was 18, in 1967, she moved to the United States.
How Alamelu Learned to Cook
Alamelu learned to cook from her aunt and uncle's professional chef. His name was Nedungudi Natesan, and he taught her many traditional Chettinad recipes in New York. She also studied Health Information Management at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She finished her degree in 1983.
Alamelu's Mission
Alamelu has two children, a son named Ashok and a daughter named Valli. She loves to help people learn about healthy cooking and eating. Her goal is to share tasty and good-for-you Indian dishes with everyone. You can watch her show today on the Create TV channel.
