Heather is a small, quiet place located in Marion County, in the state of Missouri, USA. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a mayor or a city council, as a town or city would. Instead, it's managed by the larger county government.
The History of Heather
Heather got its name from a person named H. Clay Heather. He was a important person in Missouri politics, known as a state legislator. A state legislator is someone who is elected by people to represent them and help make laws for the state.
A post office was opened in Heather in 1901. This was a place where people could send and receive letters and packages. However, the post office only stayed open for a short time, closing its doors in 1906.
