The Hebrew Wikipedia (Hebrew: ויקיפדיה: האנציקלופדיה החופשית) is a special version of Wikipedia. It is written entirely in the Hebrew language. This online encyclopedia started a long time ago, in July 2003.
It's like a huge online library where people can find information on almost any topic. All the articles are written and edited by volunteers from all over the world.
About Hebrew Wikipedia
The Hebrew Wikipedia is part of the bigger Wikipedia family. It's one of many language versions of this free online encyclopedia. Just like other Wikipedias, it aims to share knowledge with everyone.
How it Started
The Hebrew Wikipedia began its journey in the summer of 2003. Since then, it has grown a lot. Many people who speak Hebrew have helped to build it. They add new articles and improve existing ones every day.
How Big is it?
The Hebrew Wikipedia has grown quite large over the years. By October 2015, it was the 39th biggest Wikipedia. This ranking is based on the total number of articles it has.
In February 2012, it already had more than 130,000 articles. It also had over 534,000 pages in total. Plus, more than 33,500 files, like pictures, had been uploaded. This shows how much information is available there!
