Heidi Nobs was born on December 5, 1940, in Delémont, Switzerland. She loved music from a young age. She studied violin and piano while in school. Later, she trained to be a teacher at the Ecole Normale in Delémont.
Her Musical Journey
Heidi first studied violin at the Basel Music Academy. However, she had problems with her right arm. Because of this, she stopped playing the violin. She then focused on composing music. She learned about composition and music theory. Her teachers were Robert Suter and Jacques Wildberger. They also taught at the Basel Music Academy.
Heidi Baader-Nobs uses special ways to create her music. She uses techniques like "twelve-tone" music. This means she uses all 12 notes in a musical scale in a very organized way. Her later works also use "graphic scores." These are like pictures or symbols that tell musicians how to play. Other famous composers like Pierre Boulez and Iannis Xenakis influenced her music.
