In 2010, about 7,883 people lived here. By 2020, the population grew to 8,670. Helena Valley West Central is also part of the larger Helena area.

Where is Helena Valley West Central?

Helena Valley West Central is located in the southern part of Lewis and Clark County. It's very close to Helena, which is the capital city of Montana. Helena is right to the south of Helena Valley West Central.

This area is also next to other similar communities. To the southwest, you'll find Helena West Side. To the east is Helena Valley Northeast, and to the north is Helena Valley Northwest. These are all areas without their own city governments.

A major highway, Interstate 15, runs along the eastern edge of Helena Valley West Central. You can get into the area from Exit 200, which is East Lincoln Road. The center of Helena Valley West Central is about 5 miles (8 kilometers) north of downtown Helena.

Land and Water Features

Helena Valley West Central covers a total area of about 26.4 square miles (68.4 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a very small part, about 0.03 square miles (0.08 square kilometers), is water.

In the western part of the area, you can find the Scratchgravel Hills. The highest point in these hills is about 5,252 feet (1,601 meters) above sea level.
