Hélène Liebmann (born Riese) was a talented German musician. She was a pianist and a composer. Hélène was born in Berlin on December 16, 1795, and lived until December 2, 1869.
A Young Musical Star
Hélène was a true musical wonder, often called a "child prodigy." This means she was incredibly skilled at music from a very young age. She started performing concerts before she was even 13 years old! When she was just 15, she had her first piece of music published. It was a Piano Sonata, a type of long musical piece for the piano.
Hélène learned music from famous teachers like Franz Lauska and Ferdinand Ries. These teachers helped her become the amazing musician she was.
Her Life and Travels
Around 1814, Hélène got married. She might have moved with her husband to different cities, first to Vienna and then to London. Even later in life, she stayed connected to the music world. In 1835, she attended a concert by another famous female pianist, Clara Wieck (who later became Clara Schumann).
