Henry Ellis Daniels (born October 2, 1912 – died April 16, 2000) was a very important British statistician. A statistician is a person who works with data and numbers to understand patterns and make predictions. He was known for his smart ideas in mathematics and statistics. He even became a FRS, which is a big honor for scientists.
He was also the President of the Royal Statistical Society from 1974 to 1975. This society is a group for people who work with statistics. He received special awards from them, including the Guy Medal in Gold.

His Early Life and Studies
Henry Daniels was born in London, UK. He went to George Heriot's School. Later, he studied at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Cambridge. He earned his PhD in 1943.
His Work and Achievements
In 1957, Henry Daniels became the first Professor of Mathematical Statistics at the University of Birmingham. He taught there until he retired in 1978. After retiring, he moved to Cambridge.
One of his important contributions is the Parry-Daniels map. This mathematical idea is named after him and another English mathematician, Bill Parry.
Henry Daniels also helped the famous watchmaker George Daniels. He helped him with the complex math needed to design the Space Traveller's Watch.
His Personal Life
Henry Daniels came from a Jewish family. His family had roots in Russia, Poland, and Lithuania. In 1950, he married Barbara Pickering. They had two children together.
Henry Daniels passed away in 2000. He had a stroke while traveling for a workshop. He died at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
