Serving in Parliament

From 1758 to 1760, Henry Gore was a Member of Parliament (MP) for County Longford. An MP is like a representative who speaks for the people in a specific area. He served in the Irish House of Commons, which was one of the two main groups in the Irish Parliament.

After that, he represented another area called Lanesborough from 1761 to 1768. He then returned to represent County Longford again, serving from 1768 all the way until 1789.

Important Roles and Titles

Besides being an MP, Henry Gore held other important jobs. In 1765, he was the High Sheriff of Longford. A High Sheriff was a top official responsible for law and order in a county. In 1770, he also worked as an Examiner of Customs. This role likely involved checking goods coming into the country.

On September 23, 1789, Henry Gore received a very special honor. He was made Baron Annaly himself. This title was given to him "of Tenelick" in the Peerage of Ireland. The "Peerage" is a list of all the noble titles in a country. This was a new creation of the title, bringing it back after his brother John had passed away. With this new title, Henry Gore took his place in the Irish House of Lords. The House of Lords was the other main group in the Irish Parliament, made up of nobles.

Later Life and Legacy
