Henry Lien was born in Taiwan. Today, he lives in Hollywood, California, which is a famous part of Los Angeles, USA.

He went to several schools, including St. Paul’s School, Brown University, and UCLA School of Law. Before becoming a full-time author, Henry Lien had many interesting jobs. He worked as a lawyer and also taught at UCLA, where he was even named "Outstanding Instructor of the Year." He also worked with art, as a gallerist and art dealer.
