  • Carlisle in 1586

Besides being an MP, he also had another important job. He became the Keeper of Colchester Castle. This meant he was in charge of looking after the castle.

Henry Macwilliam was married twice during his life. His first wife was Elizabeth Leyes. She was the daughter of a knight named Sir John Leyes.

Later, he married a second time to Mary Cheke. Mary was a widowed lady who worked in the queen's special private rooms, known as the privy chamber.

End of His Life

Henry Macwilliam passed away on 27 December 1586. He had several children:

  • Henry Macwillian (who died in 1599)
  • Margaret Macwilliam, who married a knight named Sir John Stanhope
  • Susannah Macwilliam, who married Edward Saunders and later Goddard Pemberton
