About Henry Sandford
His Early Life
Henry Moore Sandford was born in 1751. His father was named Henry Sandford. His mother was Sarah Moore. Her father was Stephen Moore, 1st Viscount Mountcashell, who also held a special title.
His Political Journey
Henry Sandford became a member of the Irish House of Commons in 1776. This was like the parliament or law-making group in Ireland at the time. He represented the area of Roscommon. He served there from 1776 to 1783.
He returned to the Irish House of Commons in 1791. He continued to serve until 1800. In that year, he received a high honor. He was given the title of Baron Mount Sandford. This made him a member of the Peerage of Ireland, a group of people with special noble titles.
The title was created so that if Henry didn't have any sons, it would pass to his brothers, William and George, and then to their male children.
His Family Life
Lord Mount Sandford married Katherine Oliver in 1780. She was the daughter of Silver Oliver. Henry and Katherine did not have any children who survived.
Lord Mount Sandford passed away in December 1814. He was 63 years old. Because he had no surviving children, his title of Baron went to his nephew, Henry Sandford. This nephew was the son of Henry's brother, William. Lady Mount Sandford, his wife, died a few years later in October 1818.
