Henry Oswald Simmons (born July 1, 1970) is an American actor. He is well-known for playing Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie in the TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. He also played Baldwin Jones in the police drama NYPD Blue.

About Henry Simmons' Early Life and School
Henry Simmons was born in Stamford, Connecticut. His mother, Aurelia, was a school teacher. His father, Henry Simmons Sr., worked for the IRS. Henry has two sisters, including a twin sister.
He received a basketball scholarship to Franklin Pierce University. There, he studied business. While in college, he also tried acting in theater.
After college, Henry worked briefly at a big company in Stamford. He wasn't happy with that job. So, he moved to New York City to study acting. After a few small roles, he got a regular part on the TV show Another World.
Henry Simmons' Acting Career
Henry Simmons played Detective Baldwin Jones on the TV show NYPD Blue for six seasons. He also had a main role in the TV show Shark. He was also in the movie World's Greatest Dad and the TV comedy Man Up!.
His movies include the action-comedy Taxi from 2004. He also appeared in From the Rough and No Good Deed in 2014.
In 2007, Henry won an award for Best Actor. This was for his role as Dr. Walter Chambers in the movie South of Pico. He won this award at the American Black Film Festival.
From 2014 to 2020, Simmons starred in the superhero TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. He played Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie, who became a director of S.H.I.E.L.D. He started as a recurring character in season two. Then, he became a main character for seasons three through seven.
In 2021, he was the main actor in the TV series Cherish the Day.
He is also set to star in the drama series Emperor Of Ocean Park.
