Henry Taub (born September 20, 1927 – died March 31, 2011) was an American businessman who helped start a big company called ADP. He was also a kind person who gave a lot of money to help others, especially in education and science.

Henry Taub grew up in Paterson, New Jersey. He went to Eastside High School there. After high school, he studied at New York University. He finished college in 1947 with a degree in accounting, which is about managing money for businesses.

Starting a Big Business

In 1949, Henry Taub started his own company. It was first called Automatic Payrolls Inc. (API). This company helped other businesses manage their payroll, which means making sure employees get paid correctly.

At first, it was a manual service, meaning people did a lot of the work by hand. Over time, the company grew and became known as Automatic Data Processing (ADP). Today, ADP is a very large company that uses computers to help businesses with payroll and other services like managing employee benefits. Henry Taub retired from ADP in the mid-1980s.

Helping Others Through Philanthropy

Henry Taub was also a very generous person, known as a philanthropist. He gave a lot of his time and money to support important causes. He was especially involved with the Technion, which is a famous science and technology university in Israel.

Supporting Science and Technology

Henry Taub was a leader in the American Technion Society. He was the national president from 1974 to 1976. Later, he led the Technion's international board from 1990 to 2003. He was still an important honorary leader when he passed away.

He and his wife, Marilyn, helped fund many projects at Technion. One major project was the Henry and Marilyn Taub and Family Science and Technology Center. This building is home to the university's computer science department, which is known as one of the best in the world. They also supported programs to bring talented scientists to Technion and created a fund for the university's future.

Awards and Recognition

For all his hard work and generosity, Henry Taub received many honors from Technion. He was given the Technion Medal and an honorary doctorate. In 2004, a special event was held in New York City to celebrate his many years of dedicated service.

Later Life

Henry Taub lived in Tenafly, New Jersey. He passed away on March 31, 2011, at the age of 83. He died due to health problems from leukemia.
