Henry Tenison was born in 1667. He was the oldest son of Richard Tennison, who was a Bishop of Meath. A bishop is a high-ranking leader in the Christian church. Henry went to college at Trinity College Dublin and also studied law at the Middle Temple in London. He was known for being smart and interested in learning.
Friends and Connections
While at college, Henry Tenison became friends with Jonathan Swift, a famous writer. Later, Henry was part of a group of smart people who gathered around Esther Johnson, who Jonathan Swift called Stella.

Henry Tenison was a very active and dedicated politician. He served in the Irish House of Commons, which was like the parliament in Ireland at the time.
