Henry's Story: Meeting Catherine
Henry Tilney first meets a young woman named Catherine Morland at a dance. They quickly become friends and enjoy each other's company. Henry often teases Catherine in a gentle and friendly way. He becomes a helpful guide for her, and he soon starts to admire her honesty and genuine nature.
Life at Northanger Abbey
Henry's father, General Tilney, believes Catherine is very wealthy. Because of this, he invites her to stay at their family home, Northanger Abbey. While Catherine is there, Henry continues to look after her. They spend a lot of time together and their friendship grows much stronger. However, General Tilney later finds out that Catherine is not rich. He then rudely orders her to leave his house.
Standing Up for What's Right
Henry is very upset by his father's actions. He bravely stands up to his father, which was a big deal in those times. Henry then travels to Catherine's home to show her how much he cares. There, he asks her to marry him. They have to wait for a while because his father is still angry. But eventually, General Tilney agrees to their marriage, and Henry and Catherine are finally able to wed.
