Who Was Henut Taui?
We do not know much about Henut Taui's life. She worked as a priestess and a singer in the important temple of Amun in the city of Thebes. Thebes was a very important city in ancient Egypt.
After she passed away, her body was prepared as a mummy. She was then buried in a special burial ground called the Deir el-Bahari necropolis. This area was a famous place for burying important people.
Her Mummy and Coffin
After her tomb was found, Henut Taui's mummy became the property of the king of Bavaria. This was likely King Ludwig I. He later gave the mummy to a museum in Munich, Germany. This museum is called the Staatliche Sammlung für Ägyptische Kunst. Her mummy is still there today.
Her coffin was once kept in a museum in Lisbon, Portugal. But now, her coffin is also in the same museum in Munich. This allows her mummy and coffin to be together.
