The town of Heppner was first planned out in 1914. It was named after a person named Charles Heppner. He was very important because he helped the town get its own post office.
The post office in Heppner opened in 1914. It served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1952. After the post office closed, the town slowly became a ghost town.
