The Heritage Hotel is a very old and important building in Bulli, Australia. It's located at 240 Princes Highway. This special hotel was designed by William Kerwood and built in 1889. It used to be known as the Family Hotel or Bulli Family Hotel. Because it's so important, it was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on April 2, 1999.

History of the Heritage Hotel

The hotel was designed by Kenwood and Kerle. It was built by a company called McDonald Brothers. The cost to build it was £3,078. George Croft was the owner, also known as the landlord.

The first person to run the hotel was William Tory Dickson. He used to own another hotel before this one. The Heritage Hotel opened its doors on September 28, 1889. It was a very grand place. It had a public bar, several sitting rooms, a dining room, and a room for playing billiards. It also had 28 bedrooms for guests. People at the time thought it was very impressive.

The hotel closed on April 1, 1976. But a new owner bought it and fixed it up. It reopened in January 1984. On August 8, 2000, the hotel's name was changed to the Heritage Hotel.

What the Hotel Looks Like

The Heritage Hotel is a three-story building. It is built in a style called Victorian Filigree boom style. This means it has fancy decorations, especially on its verandahs (covered porches). It also has dormers, which are windows that stick out from the roof. In the middle, there is a tower with pretty iron lace designs.

Why the Hotel is Special

The Heritage Hotel is a very important part of Bulli's town. It helps show what the town looked like a long time ago. It is a great example of buildings from its time. It also shows how Bulli changed when the railway came to the area.

This hotel is considered very important for its architecture. Many people think it is one of the best examples of a Victorian-era hotel in Australia.

The Family Hotel, which is now the Heritage Hotel, was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on April 2, 1999. This means it is officially recognized as a special place. It was listed because it has important history, amazing architecture, and cultural value. It is also seen as a rare and good example of its kind.
