The Herr's Mill Covered Bridge was a special kind of bridge called a covered bridge. It crossed over the Pequea Creek in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. Some people also called it the Soudersburg Bridge.

This bridge had a unique design with two sections and a special wooden structure called a Burr arch truss. It was painted red, which was a common color for covered bridges in Lancaster County. The paths leading up to the bridge were painted white.

The bridge had a special ID number, 38-36-21, in the World Guide to Covered Bridges. In 1980, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which means it was an important historical site. The bridge was located in Paradise Township, near Lancaster city.

History of Herr's Mill Covered Bridge

The Herr's Mill Covered Bridge was built in 1844. Two builders, Joseph Elliot and Robert Russell, constructed it. The cost to build the bridge was $1787.

The bridge used a special design called a double-span, double-arch Burr arch truss. This design helped make the bridge strong. In 1875, the bridge was rebuilt by James C. Carpenter. This rebuilding cost $1860.

Later, a new concrete bridge was built nearby, so the covered bridge was no longer used for public traffic. It became part of a private property called the Mill Bridge Village Camping Resort. The owner, Brian Kopan, wanted to keep the bridge in good condition. However, in October 2018, the bridge was taken apart to be moved to Elizabethtown, but it unfortunately fell into the creek during the move.
