Hettie Macdonald is an English director who works in film, theatre, and television. She is well-known for directing the 2007 episode of Doctor Who called "Blink". This episode was very popular and even won a Hugo Award, which is a big award for science fiction and fantasy.
Hettie Macdonald has won several awards for her work. These include a BAFTA Television Award for Best Single Drama and a Grand Prix award. She has also been nominated for many other awards, including two BAFTA Television Awards.
The "Blink" episode of Doctor Who is often considered one of the best episodes since the show returned in 2005. In 2009, a magazine called SFX said that the ending of "Blink" was the scariest moment in Doctor Who history. They praised Hettie's "perfect direction." She returned to direct more Doctor Who episodes in 2015.
Before becoming a director, Hettie studied English at Bristol University. She then trained to be a director at the Royal Court Theatre. She also worked as an associate director at the Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich.
