Hicks City, Missouri facts for kids
Hicks City is a small place in Jackson County, which is in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town usually does. Instead, it's managed by the county government.
History of Hicks City
Hicks City got its start a long time ago. In 1872, a post office was opened there. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. This post office helped the community connect with the rest of the world. It stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1906.
The community was named after a person named Russell Hicks. He was one of the first people to own the land where Hicks City is located.
