Hidehiko Shimizu (清水 秀彦, Shimizu Hidehiko, born November 4, 1954) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He was born in Tokyo and played as a Midfielder. After his playing career, he became a successful coach for several Japanese football clubs.

Playing Career
Hidehiko Shimizu was born in Tokyo, Japan, on November 4, 1954. After he finished his studies at Hosei University, he joined a football team called Nissan Motors in 1977. He played for this team for many years. He stopped playing professional football in 1988.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Shimizu started his coaching journey.
Early Coaching Roles
In 1989, he became an assistant coach for his old team, Nissan Motors. This team later changed its name to Yokohama Marinos. In 1991, he was promoted and became the main manager of the team. He managed Yokohama Marinos until 1994.
In 1996, he took on a new role as manager for Avispa Fukuoka. Later, in 1998, he joined Kyoto Purple Sanga as an assistant coach. By June of that year, he was promoted to be their manager. However, he left the team in June 1999.
Managing Vegalta Sendai
In August 1999, Shimizu became the manager for Vegalta Sendai, a club in the J2 League. He did a great job with the team. In the 2001 season, he led Vegalta Sendai to finish in 2nd place. This high finish meant the club was promoted to the J1 League, which is the top football league in Japan. He continued to manage Vegalta Sendai until September 2003.
