Hideo Oshima (大島 秀夫, Ōshima Hideo, born March 7, 1980) is a Japanese football manager and former footballer. He is currently the manager of the J1 League club Yokohama F. Marinos.

Playing Career Highlights

Hideo Oshima was born in Isesaki, Japan, on March 7, 1980. After finishing high school, he started his professional football journey.

Early Club Years

In 1998, Hideo joined J1 League club Yokohama Flügels. He played a few matches as a forward. Sadly, his first club closed down at the end of 1998 because of money problems.

In 1999, he moved to Kyoto Purple Sanga. He joined with other players like Yasuhito Endo. However, he didn't get to play much in matches there.

Becoming a Regular Player

In 2001, Hideo moved to J2 League club Montedio Yamagata. This was a big step for him! He became a regular player and played in many games until 2004. In 2004, he scored 22 goals. This made him the top Japanese goal scorer in the J2 League that year.

Success with Yokohama F. Marinos

In 2005, Hideo joined Yokohama F. Marinos. He played in many matches for them. By 2007, he became a regular forward for the team. In 2007, he scored 14 goals, making him the top Japanese goal scorer in the J1 League for that year.

Later in 2008, he didn't play as much and left the club at the end of the season.

Later Career and Retirement

In 2009, Hideo moved to Albirex Niigata. He played regularly until 2010, even though he didn't score many goals. In 2011, he didn't play as much. In August 2011, he moved to JEF United Chiba, another J2 club.

In 2012, he joined Consadole Sapporo. He played in many matches, often coming on as a substitute. However, the club moved down to the J2 League that year.

In 2013, Hideo moved to Giravanz Kitakyushu, a J2 club. He played in many games as a substitute until 2015. In 2016, he played less often. The club finished last and moved down to the J3 League at the end of the 2016 season. Hideo Oshima decided to retire from playing football at the end of 2016.

Coaching Career

After his playing career, Hideo Oshima became a football manager. In June 2025, he was chosen to be the head coach of Yokohama F. Marinos. When he took over, the team was at the bottom of the 2025 J1 League standings.
