Exploring High Hill's Past
High Hill got its name because it's built on a high spot of land. Imagine looking out over the area from a tall hill!
A post office was opened in High Hill in 1847. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters. The post office served the community for many years, closing down in 1901.
Besides the post office, High Hill also had an Odd Fellows hall. This was a meeting place for a friendly club called the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. They often helped people in their community. There were also two country stores where people could buy everyday items.
