Briggs Hill: A Local Landmark
One important natural feature in Highland Plantation is Briggs Hill. This mountain summit is in the far southeastern part of the area. It also extends into nearby Lexington Township.
Briggs Hill reaches a height of about 1,952 feet (595 meters) above sea level. It is believed that the hill got its name from an early settler named Adin Briggs. He and his family lived on the hill in the 1840s. They later moved away in 1846.
