About Highland Theological College
The Highland Theological College is a college that focuses on Christian studies. It teaches about the Bible and Christian beliefs. People who want to work in churches or learn more about their faith often come here.
How HTC Started
The college began in 1994. It was first called the Highland Theological Institute. It started in a small building with help from Moray College. The first teachers were two ministers named Andrew McGowan and Hector Morrison.
In 1999, the college moved to a new building in the middle of Dingwall. At that time, its name changed to Highland Theological College (HTC).
What Students Learn
In 2006, the college was approved by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. This meant it could train people to become ministers for the Church of Scotland. The college teaches from an evangelical and Reformed Christian point of view. This means they focus on the Bible and traditional Christian teachings.
Who Leads the College
Hector Morrison has been the principal, or head, of the college since 2009. He helps guide the college and its students.
Students and Locations
In 2014, there were 141 students studying at HTC. They came to learn about theology and prepare for their future work.
In 2015, the college opened another location in Glasgow. This allowed more students to study closer to home.
