Hill Cove is a small settlement located on West Falkland, one of the main islands in the Falkland Islands. It is found in the north-west part of West Falkland, right on the coast. From Hill Cove, you can look across Byron Sound to Saunders Island. On Saunders Island is Port Egmont, which was the very first British settlement in these islands.
Behind Hill Cove, you'll see Mount Adam. This mountain acts like a shield, protecting the settlement from strong winds that blow from the south. As of 2012, only 16 people lived in Hill Cove, making it a very quiet place.

Hill Cove is the third largest settlement on West Falkland. It sits on the northern coast, offering views of the sea. The area is known for its peaceful surroundings.
Where is Hill Cove Located?
This settlement is in the north-western part of West Falkland. It is right on the shore of Byron Sound. This location gives it a unique view of Port Egmont. Port Egmont was an important early British settlement.
A Look Back in Time
Hill Cove was one of the first places to be settled on West Falkland. People started living here permanently in the 1860s. This was quite early for the island. Today, you can still see several houses in the settlement. Some of these buildings have a long history.
The Falklands' Only Forest
One of the most special things about Hill Cove is its "forest." This is the only real forest in all of the Falkland Islands! The trees were first planted in the 1880s. More trees were added in 1925, making the wood larger. There is also a smaller group of trees on Carcass Island. This forest is a unique natural feature in the islands.
