Hira is a small community located about 20 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of Nelson, New Zealand. It is nestled in the beautiful valley of the Wakapuaka River.

Hira is part of a larger area called Nelson Rural. This area covers about 366 square kilometers (141 square miles). It includes other places like Todds Valley, Glenduan, Wakapuaka, and Pepin Island.
