This community has been known by a few different names over the years! It was also called Harrison, Harrison Rapids, and Harrison Station.

A post office, which is where people send and receive mail, was opened in Hiram Rapids in 1840. It was simply known as the Rapids post office. This post office served the community for many years, helping people connect through letters and packages, until it closed down in 1912.
