History of Hiramsburg
Hiramsburg was officially started, or "platted," in 1836. This means someone carefully planned and mapped out the streets and lots for a new settlement. The person who did this was named Hiram Calvert. He decided to name the community after himself, calling it Hiramsburg.
Back in the 1800s, a post office was very important for a community. It was how people sent and received letters and news. A post office was opened in Hiramsburg in 1837. It helped connect the people living there with the rest of the world for many years. The post office stayed open for a long time, finally closing its doors in 1920.
