Playing for Clubs
Hiroshi Sakai was born in Mie Prefecture, Japan. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career in 1995. He joined a team called Bellmare Hiratsuka.
Early Career at Bellmare Hiratsuka
He played his first games and became a regular player in 1997. At the end of 1998, the club faced money problems. Because of this, many players had to leave the team.
In early 1999, Hiroshi played a lot with new, younger players. But later that year, he didn't get to play as much. His team finished last in the league. They were then moved down to a lower league, the J2 League.
Moving to Oita Trinita and Retirement
In 2000, Hiroshi Sakai joined Oita Trinita, another J2 League team. However, he hardly played any matches for them. He decided to retire from football at the end of the 2000 season.
Playing for Japan's National Team
In August 1993, Hiroshi Sakai was chosen to play for the Japan U-17 national team. This team played in the 1993 U-17 World Championship. He played in two matches during this important tournament.
