Hiroshi Sowa (楚輪 博, Sowa Hiroshi, born May 1, 1956) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He was a talented midfielder who later became a coach for several professional teams in Japan.

Playing Career

Hiroshi Sowa was born in Hiroshima, Japan, on May 1, 1956. He loved football from a young age. After finishing his studies at Hosei University, he joined the professional football team Yammer Diesel in 1979. This team later became known as Cerezo Osaka.

Sowa played for Yammer Diesel for many years, from 1979 to 1990. During his time as a player, he appeared in 191 games and scored 13 goals. His skills were recognized, and he was chosen for the "Best Eleven" team in both 1981 and 1982. Being selected for the "Best Eleven" means he was considered one of the top 11 players in the league during those years.

Coaching Career

After he stopped playing football professionally, Hiroshi Sowa began a new career as a coach. He started coaching at Cerezo Osaka in 1994, the same club where he had played for many years. By 1996, he became the main manager of the team.

In 1997, Sowa moved to another club called Sagan Tosu, which was part of the Japan Football League. He managed this team until 1999. In 1999, Sagan Tosu joined a new, higher-level league called the J2 League.

Later, in 2004, Hiroshi Sowa signed with a team named YKK AP, which also played in the Japan Football League. This team later changed its name to Kataller Toyama. Under his leadership, Kataller Toyama performed very well. In 2008, the team finished in 3rd place, which allowed them to move up to the J2 League starting in 2009.

Sowa continued to manage Kataller Toyama in the J2 League. However, during the 2010 season, the team's results were not as good. In September 2010, when the team was in 18th place out of 19 clubs, the club decided to make a change in leadership, and Sowa left his position as manager.
