History, also known as The History Channel, is a popular TV channel in Australia and New Zealand. It shows many interesting programs about real historical events and people. You can also learn about different ideas and mysteries from the past.

The channel often features experts like historians, writers, and scholars. They share their knowledge and help explain what happened long ago. Sometimes, you'll see reenactments, which are like mini-plays that show historical moments.

About the History Channel

The History channel is run by a company called Foxtel Networks. They work with A&E Networks to bring you these shows. A&E Networks is the company that owns the History brand and its programs.

How it Started

The channel first launched in 1996. Back then, it was called Fox History. In November 1998, its name changed to The History Channel.

For a few years, the channel shared its broadcast time with another channel called Fox Kids. This meant they didn't broadcast all day. But in December 2000, The History Channel got its own full 24-hour channel. This allowed viewers to watch historical shows any time they wanted.

On November 3, 2014, the History channel started broadcasting in high-definition (HD). This means you can watch your favorite shows with much clearer and sharper pictures.

What You Can Watch

The History channel is known for its wide range of factual programs. These shows cover many different periods and topics from history.

You might see shows about:

  • Ancient civilizations like the Egyptians or Romans.
  • Famous wars and battles, explaining how they shaped the world.
  • Important people who changed history, such as leaders or inventors.
  • Mysteries and unsolved puzzles from the past.
  • How technology and societies have developed over time.

The channel aims to make history exciting and easy to understand for everyone.
