Hobbieville is a small, unincorporated community located in Greene County, Indiana, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of a larger area called a township, which helps manage things. Hobbieville is specifically found within Center Township.
The History of Hobbieville
Hobbieville has a simple but interesting past. It was first settled and named Jonesboro way back in 1837. This was a common practice in early American history, as new communities sprang up.
Just a few years later, in 1840, a post office was opened in the community. This post office was given the name Hobbieville. A post office was a very important place for people to send and receive letters and packages before the internet and phones existed. The Hobbieville post office served the community for many years, helping people stay connected. It finally closed its doors in 1935.
