Holland is a small, quiet place in Chattooga County, Georgia, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's usually part of a larger county.

The Story of Holland

How Holland Got Its Name

Holland was named after a man named Charles I. Holland. He was an important person in the community because he was an early postmaster. A postmaster is someone in charge of a post office, which is where people send and receive mail.

For a while, the community was also called "Holland's Store." This name came from a local country store that was a central spot for people to buy things and meet up.

When the Post Office Was Open

A post office first opened in Holland in 1879. Back then, it was called "Holland's Store" just like the community. Later, in 1889, the name of the post office was officially changed to just "Holland." The post office served the community for many years, helping people stay connected through letters and packages, until it finally closed in 1953.
