Hollowtown, Ohio facts for kids
Hollowtown is a small, unincorporated community located in Highland County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or a town. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
History of Hollowtown
Hollowtown has a simple but interesting history. A post office was first opened here in 1861, which means people could send and receive mail right in their community. This post office served the area for many years, finally closing its doors in 1905.
The community got its unique name from a local person named Anthony Hollow. He was a merchant, which means he owned a business and sold goods to people in the area. It's common for places to be named after important early settlers or landowners.
