Holly McNarland's Music Journey

Holly McNarland started her music career in the early 1990s. She moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, to pursue her dreams.

Early Music Releases

In 1995, Holly released her first mini-album, called Sour Pie. She put it out herself. A year later, a big record company, MCA Records, re-released it across the country.

Her first full album, Stuff, came out in 1997. The most popular song from this album was "Numb". It became a top 10 hit in Canada.

Awards and Recognition

Holly McNarland won an important award in 1998. At the 1998 Juno Awards, she was named the Best New Solo Artist. She was also nominated for Best Alternative Album for Stuff. Her music video for the song "Elmo" was nominated for Best Video too.

Taking a Break and Returning to Music

After her album Stuff, Holly took a break from music for five years. She got married and had her first child. She returned to music in 2002 with a new album called Home Is Where My Feet Are.

This album led to a tour, with singer Emm Gryner opening her shows. Home Is Where My Feet Are also received several nominations in 2003. These included awards for Outstanding Pop Recording and Outstanding Songwriter.

Collaborations and Later Albums

Holly McNarland has worked with other musicians. She sang backing vocals on a song for The Tea Party in 2004. She also worked with Matthew Good on several songs, including "Flight Recorder From Viking 7" and "Pony Boy". In 2004, she performed at the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards.

She continued to release new music. Her album Chin-Up Buttercup came out in 2007. In 2012, she released Run Body Run. She also collaborated with Matt Good again in 2015 on his cover of Kate Bush's song Cloudbusting.
