History of Holmes
Holmes has had a few names over the years. It was once called Holmes Camp, and sometimes people still refer to it as Holmes Flat.
The community was named after an important person. This person was an executive at a lumber company. A post office served the area for many years. It operated in Holmes from 1910 until 1965.
