Homer Moore (born November 12, 1971) is a retired American fighter who competed in mixed martial arts (MMA). MMA is a sport that combines different fighting styles. He fought in the Light Heavyweight division for famous organizations like the UFC, WEC, and the IFL.

Fighting Career

Homer Moore had a long and busy career in fighting, with nearly 100 MMA fights. Before he started MMA, he was a talented wrestler.

Early Success in Wrestling

Moore was a fantastic wrestler in college. In 1992, he easily won the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Collegiate Championship. His success in wrestling at Phoenix College helped him become a top athlete. His championship record is now honored at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

In the mid-1990s, he was a resident athlete at the United States Olympic Training Center, where top athletes train for the Olympics.

Entering Mixed Martial Arts

After his wrestling career, Moore looked for new challenges and began fighting in MMA. He had an amazing start, winning 10 fights in a row over three years.

His first professional fight in the UFC was at UFC 34. He fought against Evan Tanner, who was a UFC Middleweight Champion. Moore lost this match but continued to compete in major events. He also fought for the IFL, where he faced jiu-jitsu expert Allan Goes.

A New Kind of Championship

In January 2009, Moore became the first-ever Ultimate World Heavyweight Champion of a unique sport called XARM. XARM was created by Art Davie and mixed arm wrestling with fighting.

In an XARM match, fighters tried to win by pinning their opponent's arm, knocking them out, or making them submit. The competitors came from many different sports, including arm wrestling, football, and kickboxing. Moore proved he was the best and was also named the "Best Fighter" in XARM's "Best of 2008 Awards".
