Hong Lim (simplified Chinese: 林美丰; traditional Chinese: 林美豐; pinyin: Lín Měifēng; born 11 November 1950) is an Australian politician. A politician is someone who works in government. They help make decisions for the country or state. Hong Lim was a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 2018. The Legislative Assembly is like a parliament for the state of Victoria in Australia.
He represented the areas of Clayton and Clarinda. He was part of the Labor Party.

Early Life and Education
Hong Lim was born in Cambodia in 1950. His family has Chinese roots. He went to school in Phnom Penh, which is the capital city of Cambodia.
In 1970, Hong Lim moved to Australia. He continued his studies there. He attended the University of Tasmania. Later, he studied at Monash University in Melbourne. He earned a degree in arts from Monash University.
Community Involvement
Before becoming a politician, Hong Lim was very active in his community. He helped many people.
Supporting Communities
From 1984 to 1992, he was the Chairman of the Victorian Indo-Chinese Communities Council. This group helped people from countries like Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. He also led the Cambodian Association of Victoria from 1992 to 1996.
Public Service Roles
Hong Lim also worked with the government. He was a commissioner for the Victorian Ethnic Affairs Commission from 1985 to 1992. This commission helps people from different cultural backgrounds. He was also a member of the Monash University Council for a few years.
Political Career
Hong Lim started his political journey in 1996. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly. This meant he became a representative for his local area.
