History of Hopewell

Hopewell got its start a long time ago, in 1876. When it was first planned, it was given the name "Hopewell Academy." However, this name was a bit misleading because there wasn't actually an academy or school nearby!

Before it was officially planned, a post office opened in the area in 1863, also called Hopewell Academy. This post office was an important part of the community for many years, helping people send and receive letters and packages. It stayed open until 1906.
