Hosford is a small community in Liberty County, Florida, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It's also a "census-designated place," which means the government counts its population for official records. In 2020, about 629 people lived there.
Hosford is located where two main roads meet: State Road 20 and State Road 65. It has its own post office (ZIP Code 32334). The community also has a school, Hosford Elementary School and Jr. High School, and a public library called the Jimmy Weaver Memorial Public Library. A large Georgia-Pacific mill is also located in Hosford.

History of Hosford
How Hosford Got Its Name
Hosford was first settled in 1859 and was known as Coe's Mill. It was named after the Coe family. A woman from this family, Katherine Coe, married a man named Robert Flournoy Hosford. Robert Hosford was a state senator in Florida. A state senator is a person elected to make laws for the state.
While he was a senator, Robert Hosford helped bring the railroad to Liberty County. The railroad was very important for moving goods and people back then. To thank him for his hard work, the town of Coe's Mill was renamed Hosford.
Early Growth and Changes
In 1910, the Hosford Lumber Company faced financial problems and had to close down. However, a newspaper article from 1912 called Hosford a "thriving little town." This means it was growing and doing well. The Graves Saw Mill helped the town grow even more.
Visitors to Hosford could stay at a local hotel that had electricity and fresh water from a special well called an artesian well. They could also visit a local mineral spring. By this time, Hosford already had a school and a church.
County Seat Vote and Bottling Company
In 1914, people in Liberty County voted on where the county's main government office, called the county seat, should be. They chose Bristol over Hosford by a vote of 226 to 123.
In 1916, a company called the Hosford Coca-Cola Bottling Company was started. However, this company stopped operating in 1936.
Decline in Population
The Graves Saw Mill, which had helped Hosford grow, closed in 1928. When the mill closed, many employees moved away to find new jobs. This caused the population of Hosford to decrease.
