A Look Back at the Hotel's History

The Hotel Wolf was built way back in 1893. It cost about $6,000 to build, which was a lot of money then! A German immigrant named Frederick G. Wolf had it built. He used to own liquor stores in Wyoming.

The hotel first opened its dining room with a big party on New Year's Eve in 1893. The hotel rooms themselves were ready for guests on January 10, 1894.

Frederick Wolf passed away in 1910. Two years later, his wife, Christina, sold the hotel. She sold it to George W. Sisson for $10,000. The Hotel Wolf still operates as a hotel and restaurant today.

What the Hotel Looks Like

The Hotel Wolf is a two-story building made of brick. It has an L-shape when you look at it from above. The roof is steep and pointed, with windows sticking out called dormers.

Near the main entrance, there's a special design on the bricks. It has a pattern of bricks that stick out slightly, forming small arches above the ground floor windows.

A Historic Landmark

The Hotel Wolf is considered a very important building. On November 21, 1974, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a list of places in the United States that are important to history. Being on this list helps protect the building and recognize its special value.
