The building at 130 Hayden Station Road is a special old brick house in Windsor, Connecticut. It was built way back in 1760. This makes it a very old building from the Colonial era. It stands right next to the Capt. Nathaniel Hayden House. People think it was probably used as a shoemaker's shop. Because of its history, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

What Does It Look Like?

The house at 130 Hayden Station Road is in northern Windsor. It is on the north side of Hayden Station Road. The Capt. Nathaniel Hayden House is right next to it. This building is one and a half stories tall. It is made of brick. The roof is a special shape called a gambrel roof. This means it has two different slopes on each side.

There is a chimney in the middle of the house. A small extension with a shed roof is at the back. The front of the house has four window sections. The main door is in the middle-right section. The windows are simple and rectangular. They are set right up against the edge of the roof.

A Glimpse into History

This building was likely built around 1760. Nathaniel Hayden probably built it. Some local historians thought it might have been where the Hayden family lived first. They thought this was before their bigger house was built next door.

However, it is more likely that this building was a shoemaking shop. The Hayden family was known to run a shoemaking business. This old brick building is a rare survivor. It helps us understand what life was like in Windsor during the Colonial times.
