The house at 847 North Main Street in West Hartford, Connecticut is a really old and special building. It's one of the few houses left in town from the 1700s! This house is a great example of a style called Georgian architecture. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 10, 1986, which means it's an important historical landmark.

What the House Looks Like
The house at 847 North Main Street is in northern West Hartford. It sits on a small hill, protected by a cool brownstone wall. This house is two and a half stories tall. It's made of wood and has a classic side gable roof. The outside is covered with clapboard siding.
The front of the house has five window sections, but they aren't perfectly even. The main door is a little off-center. It has fancy decorations around it, like columns on the sides. Interestingly, there's no window right above the main entrance. A smaller, one-and-a-half-story section extends from the back of the house.
A Peek into its Past
There's a bit of a mystery about when this house was built! A sign on the house says it was built in 1748 by Gurdon Flagg. But, experts who study old buildings think it was actually built around 1777.
The design of the doorway is a clear sign of the Georgian style. Also, the missing second-floor window above the door was common for houses from that time. Some of the decorations on the roof edges suggest that parts of the house might have been changed in the mid-1800s.
