The Houston Texans Cheerleaders are the official dance team for the Houston Texans, a professional football team in the National Football League. Even though they are called cheerleaders, they are actually a dance team. They have been part of the Texans team since it started in 2002.
To join the team, dancers try out at the Methodist Training Center. Currently, there are 35 dancers on the squad. Each year, the team used to release a swimsuit calendar from 2008 to 2016. Now, they create a "sideline calendar" which shows pictures of the cheerleaders during their game day activities.
The squad also helps out in the community. They appear at charity events and parties. In 2011, the team hosted a "Birds and Birdies" Golf Tournament at Cypresswood Golf Club. Also in 2011, they had a special "HTC All Stars Group." This group performed at the "Happy Holidays Show" before a game against the Carolina Panthers. Cheerleaders from all over Houston joined in this performance.
