Hovav Sekulets (Hebrew: חובב סקולץ), born on November 19, 1986, is an Israeli singer. He is known by his stage name Hovi Star (Hebrew: חובי סטאר). Hovi Star represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with his song "Made of Stars". The song was written by Doron Medalie.

About Hovi Star
Hovav Sekulets, also known as Hovi Star, was born in Kiryat-Ata, Israel. When he was six years old, he started trying out for children's TV shows in Israel. During his three years serving in the Israeli army, he was part of the army's band. Hovi Star is also trained as a hairstylist and a makeup artist.
Music and Media Career
In 2009, Hovi Star took part in the seventh season of Kokhav Nolad. This was the Israeli version of the popular Idol singing competition. He finished in seventh place overall. In the same year, he also participated in the "Children's Song Festival" in Israel. He sang his own song called "Little boy, big boy."
The next year, Hovi Star was invited back to Kokhav Nolad. He hosted a behind-the-scenes online show called Star Live. He also appeared on a morning TV show to talk about the contestants.
Hovi continued his music career, releasing songs like "Playing dangerous" and "Boyfriend." After a break from music, he released "W.S.I.L." He then toured the world for three years, performing in many countries. Hovi Star has also written songs for other Israeli singers. These include Liel Kolet, Or Bar, Megior Biton, and Barak Tamam.
He has also lent his voice to many Hebrew versions of movies. Some of these include Lego, Inside Out, Lucky Duck, Frozen Fever, My First Dragon 2, Paddington Bear, Maya the Bee, Batman, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Nut Job, Geronimo Stilton, and CJ The DJ.
In 2016, Hovi Star performed in the Israeli version of "The Little Mermaid." He played a special role called the "Star of the Sea."
Eurovision Song Contest
In 2015, Hovi Star competed in HaKokhav HaBa La'Eirovizion. This TV show chooses Israel's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. Hovi won the show, earning the chance to represent his country.
He represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden. His song was "Made of Stars." At Eurovision, Hovi Star performed in the second semifinal on May 12. He qualified for the final by finishing in seventh place. In the Grand Final on May 14, he performed as the seventh act. He finished in 14th place overall. He was seventh in the professional jury voting, receiving 12 points from Germany.
